Due to the change in ground conditions due to the heavy rain we will now move to the mandatory use of mats to protect the fairways. The following is the position using fairway mats.
1 Supplementary Scores
When submitting Supplementary Scores, players must play the ball as it lies except that, on the fairway and any other closely mown area, the ball must be placed on a mat.
2 Match Play Ties
If playing a tie, Gents, ladies or Mixed Foursomes, players must play the ball as it lies except that, on the fairway or any closely mown area, the ball must be placed on a mat.
3 Friendly (Bounce) Games
If the ball lies on the fairway or any other closely mown area, the ball must be placed on a mat or moved to the semi rough on the side nearest to where the ball lies, at the option of the player. As the object of the exercise is to protect the course, the ball should be placed in the semi rough.
4 Use of Putters
In all circumstances, if using a putter on the fairway or any other closely mown area, there is no need to use a mat although a player may do so if he or she so wishes.
